Moments of music
On Friday 7 November 2014, the Embassy of Luxembourg in Athens in cooperation with the Ecali Club organized a music recital, which was performed by the clarinet soloist from Luxembourg Mrs Carole Biever-Hecker, the violin soloist from Greece Mrs Nina Patrikidou and the piano soloist from Greece Mrs Evgenia Votanopoulou-Iatrou. The three soloists performed the following selection from a classical and a contemporary repertory. Henri Rabaud (1873-1949): “Solo de Concours” op.10, Francis Poulenc (1899-1963): “Novelette”, Lili Boulanger (1893-1918): “ Nocturne”, Arghyris Kounadis (1924-2011) : “Sarabanda” from Moments Musicaux, Iosif Kotek (1855-1885) : Valse op. 10 n. 3, Darius Milhaud (1892-1974) : “Duo Concertant”, Jules Massenet (1842-1912) : “Meditation”, Henryk Wieniawski (1835-1880) : “Souvenir de Moscou,Isaak Albeniz (1860-1909) : “Tango Espana” op. 165 n. 2, James Power: “Alpine Clarinet”& “Sidewalks of Harlem”, Carlos Gardel (1890-1935): “Tango” (Por una cabeza) arranged by John Williams, F.Poliakin: “Le Canari”.
The musical event took place on the theatre hall of the Ecali Club, it was very successful and gathered over 130 people. The three talented musicians were applauded by diplomats, club members and guests from the Athenian capital. The Ambassador of Luxembourg in Greece, Mr Christian Biever made a welcome speech before the recital and presented the three distinguished soloists.
