25th Francophone Film Festival of Greece

The Embassy of Luxembourg in Athens participated in the 25^th Francophone Film Festival of Greece with the animated film "Slocum - a boat in the garden" by Jean-François Laguionie, with Elias Hauter, Grégory Gadebois and Coraly Zahonero.
 

Slocum, a co-production between Luxembourg and France, was projected 10 times from the 27^th of March to the 1^st of April 2025, in schools in Athens and at public cinemas in the following cities: Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra, Larissa, Kastoria, Chania, and Kavala.

The story is set in the early 1950s, on the banks of the Marne River. François, an 11-year-old boy, discovers with interest that his parents are starting to build a boat in the small family garden, a replica of the sailboat of the famous sailor Joshua Slocum, who made the first solo crossing of the oceans.
